Shaun Tam’s strong desire to care for others has been a driving force throughout his career. After a stint in the U.S. Army, he worked in construction and served as a volunteer firefighter. “I liked being outdoors, but the entire time I had this drive to lead people. I found that I was most effective at leading and helping people by working in healthcare.” Subsequently, Shaun completed training as an EMT, paramedic, and registered nurse with the goal of helping as many people as possible.

Shaun was drawn to Saltzer Health, an Intermountain Healthcare company, by the organization’s vision for urgent care. “We are the bridge between your primary care doctor and the emergency department, and we are the ones who take some of the burden off of the emergency department.” At Saltzer, Shaun Tam is a Clinical Coordinator 1 at the 24-hour Ten Mile urgent care where he works closely with the clinical team and management, manages the schedule, tracks supplies and provides direct care as a nurse.

In his free time, Shaun loves watching his boys play baseball, trying out different breweries in the valley, and mountain biking in the Boise foothills and the Owyhee Mountains.

At work, Shaun enjoys cultivating a healthy company culture, encouraging efficient workflow, and brainstorming ideas to share with senior management. He takes pride in advocating for his team and values transparency, trustworthiness, communication, integrity, and mutual respect all while leading by example.

He is passionate about leadership and helping others every day.   “I love helping people and helping the people I appreciate and work with.”
