Mario Martinez is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in a variety of medical settings who works in the Saltzer Health urgent care clinics. He joined Saltzer Health in October 2021.
Most recently, Martinez worked for Emergency Medicine of Idaho as a nurse practitioner in an emergency department where he provided critical care to patients of all ages.
Previously, he was a family nurse practitioner in pulmonary/critical care at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and in urgent care at Primary Health Medical Group, both in Boise.
Martinez has been a registered flight nurse providing critical care air and ground transport for Air St. Luke’s, clinical coordinator for the Idaho State University paramedic program and registered nurse in the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
He also was a registered flight nurse for Access Air Ambulance in Boise and Nevada and Northwest Paramedic Association and worked as a registered nurse and emergency medical technician at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA.
Since 2002, Martinez has served as a medical officer, officer in charge and commander of the U.S. Naval Reserves in Boise with oversight of 27 members of the reserve medical detachment who provide medical coverage for 280 people in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010.
Martinez earned a master’s of science degree in the family nurse practitioner program at Idaho State University in Pocatello. He received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from California State University in Chico.
