What is a Healthy Relationship?

In the last couple of post for Healthy Relationships/Safe Babies we discussed the unhealthy aspects of a relationship and the red flags to look out for. Now it’s time to talk about the other side. Dr Kasper talks with Debbie Courson about what signs constitute a healthy relationship.

How do you know if you are in a healthy relationship? How do we know if this relationship is good for us and the other person? Here is a list of signs to examine to help you determine the health of your relationship.

  • When expressing & communicating thoughts, feeling, wants, and needs each person should receive respect
  • Each partner takes responsibility for their own actions and emotions
  • Respect & consideration for each other’s personal boundaries (being comfortable saying no)
  • Feels safe to communicate with partner
  • Compromising
  • Trust & honesty
  • Sharing responsibility
